Today is my birthday. Bastille Day. Lucky me. Nothing beats a handmade card, especially one like this. My youngest made it for me back in Toronto and carefully snuck it into her suitcase. The necklace my oldest made from bottle glass she collected from the beach here in Barbados.

When I saw this fused glass pendant on Etsy, I had to flag it as a favourite. I am sure the girl-boy-girl image which so happens to duplicate my own children’s exact birth order had nothing to do with it! Jen*, the local Toronto artist and talent behind Urban Fusions, must have known that this would catch my fancy.

Artist words:
“In every piece of my work, nothing happens by accident. Every bit of glass for the most part has been thought out and placed by hand.”

My daughter made this for me for Mother’s Day. She alternated the buttons so that the bracelet is reversible, like loopylocks. How clever. It is so comfortable to wear. I adore it. Thank you, Darling!
